Testing an interface for accessibility is important because it ensures that the product is usable by as many people as possible, including those with disabilities. This not only widens the user base, but also complies with legal and ethical standards. Accessible design benefits all users, not just those with disabilities, by improving usability and user experience. It's a crucial part of inclusive design.
Especially this being a health app, in an area of care used by all, it is of utmost importance that this interface is completely accessible for all. Visual impairments and colour blindness is the main sticking points and I tried to design in a way that allows everyone to use the app with ease.
I began by testing for colour blindness. I used a Figma plug in to do this, and tested for all colour blindness conditions. I didn’t have time to test every screen, so I chose a selection of the most important and ones I was concerned about.
