Prototype

Look Back

I found the process of creating my prototype to be a very rewarding one. In the beginning, I was quite daunted by the prospect of creating an Apollo 11 immersive prototype. Immersive prototypes rely very heavily on graphic interest and I felt going into this project that sometimes my graphic design abilities can hold me back.

As a result, I really committed to myself that I was going to push the art direction of this prototype and create graphic outcomes that I truly felt pushed me as a designer. I felt my first iteration of the prototype did not do this, however my second iteration went far to achieve this. I am delighted with the final outcome of my prototype. There is a very strong art style throughout and one I feel is quite unique. This is completely different from anything I have ever created before but I am so glad that I have evolved my design skills to be able to design in this way.

Look Forward

Looking forward into the future, I have definitely learned from this project to not just settle with my first design choices in the design process. I also feel more empowered to explore fonts that I do not usually use as this is where I can truly push myself as a designer. I feel that I have levelled up my prototyping abilities in this project which is something I still want to continue to build upon in the future.

E-Book

Look Back

I enjoyed creating the e-book deliverable of this project. This is the first project where the only thing I had to consider was graphics, content and composition, as interaction was truly out of the realm of possibility in this deliverable. Changing the threshold from a horizontal frame to a vertical A4 frame was definitely something I found tricky to navigate, however I feel more confident in my abilities to design in an adaptive way.

Look Forward

I would love to create another e-book and develop my InDesign skills further. This is definitely a programme that is a powerful tool for designing for print and I would love to gain a deeper understanding of how these features can benefit my practice. I think creating e-books is also a great way to showcase your designs and I would love to create an e-book format portfolio at some stage.
