Choosing a Type Face

I chose Azo Sans for the type face of my personal branding. It’s been a favourite type face of mine for a while and one which worked very well with the geometric structure of the morse - code ‘A’.

This was the final word mark using Azo Sans. I was really pleased with the outcome.

In terms of the branding and visual identity of the rest of the website, I just wanted to focus on keeping it very minimal. I will interpose the logo on the header and have all text in Azo Sans but other than that keep a black and white theme in order to let the work and images stand out.

Creating Hero Images

I created 4 hero images of 4 projects I had worked on which I wanted to present. I ensured to have a mockup of each project on it’s intended device as I felt it was visually interesting and showed the variety of devices I can design for.

Deciding How to Build the Website

I weighed up the pros and cons of each method of building the website. I have previous experience of coding a website from first year so I knew it wasn’t beyond the realm of possibility that I could code it. My only fear was that if I code it myself it would be liable to breaking as I am not very experienced with the upkeep of a website or hosting it.

I turned to no code website builders. I ruled out framer from the beginning as I’ve never had a positive experience with it. Webflow seemed like a good option however given how quickly I needed to create a website, the learning curve was too steep for such a short time frame. Square space seemed like the best option to me as it has a very user friendly way of building the website. I also like the way in which it gives you insights into the traffic on the website and their navigation through the website.
