Before I start to create my low-fidelity mock ups, I want to choose which fonts I would like to work with so that I can set this from the beginning to save time. I was slightly conflicted as I wanted a stylish serif-based typeface, but I don’t necessarily love them when it comes to body text and copywriting within an app interface. However, I think it could be quite nice to use these as headers and in word mark design.
Kepler is quite nice, however I feel that it is too broad for what I am looking for, especially when it comes to designing a word mark.
Questa Grande feels as though it has a bit more style to it, however I think it feels a bit cold in personality.
Amster felt more along the vein of what I was looking for. It feels slightly more friendly in tone and more distinctive. This was a strong contender.
Philosopher was by far my favourite I found. It was a perfect blend of serif yet modern and stylish. It feels friendly in tone and is highly distinctive. I feel that there is a lot to work with as well when it comes to designing a word mark.
Having a chosen header typeface, my focus now turned to finding an appropriate body text. I considered both serif and sans serif typefaces for this. My focus here was legibility over anything else.
