Throughout this project, I have been compiling any data visualisations and graphics that I have quite liked and from this, there is definitely a strong visual aesthetic which I would like to replicate in my own dashboard. Below I have listed all of the aspects which I feel are important in order to achieve this.
Below are the colours I have chosen for my dashboard. I am open to making darker variations of the primary colour palette if I need to use coloured text but I want to try keep this to a minimum. I feel that the range if colours chosen give me a nice range to play within. I also think the neutral of the background is very effective as it is not overpowering. I am very open to developing this colour palette as I design. As there is no strong branding rationale behind this project, I want to allow myself to be as creative as I want with colour and not restrict myself to a strict palette.
For my type face, I chose ‘Basic Sans’. I feel like this is quite a friendly and calming typeface, which will compliment the dashboards nicely. Most importantly, it will not not detract from the graphs which was a big priority when choosing a typeface.
I feel that the visual aesthetic I have chosen to work towards is a strong choice. Sometimes, I feel that data visualisations and dashboards can be rather cold and impersonal. As this is a week in my life, I want there to be some personality within the design of the dashboards. I feel quite confident moving on to the digitalisation of these dashboards now that I have a clearer idea what they will look like in the end.
