For our group research, I suggested that we each take a suggested topic given to us and research it. We narrowed it down to four titles and I made a miro board for us to present our research on. I chose pioneers of Web/Digital design. Although we didn’t choose that title in the end, I really enjoyed researching this topic and it is information I’ll no doubt revisit in the future.
We chose Pioneers of Post Modern Graphic Design. In a similar format, we each chose different areas to research and present on which we uploaded to miro.
I focused on the Societal Influences, Politics and Reaction to Post Modern Graphic Design. I found this topic really interesting as I’ve never got the opportunity before to look into criticism surrounding graphics. It made me appreciate how important the post modern graphic design movement was when you consider how subversive it was to the main idiom of graphic design at the time.
I created a small design system for our group to use when designing their slides. I used a Weingart piece (a pioneer of post modern graphic design) as the design but rearranged it to make it more suitable for slide design. I created many different options depending on how much content was needed on the slide. Helvetica was the font I chose as it was also used by Weingart.
