I settled on this colour scheme after reading the text of The Street of Crocodiles. I wanted to keep it rather neutral, to let the rich imagery conveyed through the text and the images I selected. I liked the earthy tones across the palette.
I sourced these images on UnSplash. I felt they resembled the text the best. I loved the rich summer imagery throughout the text so I honed in on that as much as possible.
My initial focus was designing the header image of the website. I wanted the title to lay across the header image.
I felt that using a colour burn was a good way to decrease any issues of legibility in the title. Admittedly, this probably wouldn’t score the highest in web accessibility guidelines but it was still legible under colour-blindness filters.
