I was really pleased with my essay as a whole. I decided to focus on designer Natasha Jen from Pentagram who I have admired for a long time. I felt that she is a designer who is highly prevalent in the modern day and her portfolio is just as impressive as her journey to where she is today. I also love her lectures and interviews which is why I based a lot of my essay from her quotes and design thinking.
For the design of this website I really did take what was right in front of me as inspiration. I began designing my website on Figma and then found inspiration in the guidelines and cursor of a Figma interface. So i decided to base my website on this. Below is a screenshot of when I realised this.
Retracing my steps a little, I chose the font of Futura as my webfont. I think the modernism of the font resembles the modern feel to Jen’s work. It’s clean and professional.
This was the colour scheme I chose. I really just chose these colours because I liked them apart from the primary Figma blue.
I designed the header image taking more inspiration from Figma. I created a red grid similar to the Figma interface over the image of Natasha Jen. I also framed the leading quote in the image.
