In a similar way to the doubts I had about my typography, I felt that my graphics were also a bit bland. I revisited my mood boards to see what they were lacking.
MY ART BOARD:
I realised that what my prototype was missing was a stronger sense of colour grading throughout the prototype, along with a lack of sense of lighting and also texture. I decided to give my prototype a bit of a glow up and develop my prototype further.
My approach to this was quite organic and very trial and error. I got stuck into some of the graphics and began to layer them up with images.
OLD GRAPHIC
NEW GRAPHIC
I did this quite organically, in a way that I actually can’t remember all of the details as it was very trial and error. I layered up the background with night sky images, along with overlays of the moon on gradient spheres. Such small changes can make the world of a difference graphically. I also developed the typography, which can be found on a previous typography blog. Overall, I felt this was already more aligned with my ambition for the project.

I focused intently on bringing the point and line theme across the majority of the prototype, and not being afraid to bring this into more photography based screens. Again, this was actually quite simple, I placed the shapes into the screen and used layer blurs and opacity to blend them into the background.

In a similar way, I used the points and blurring to create lens flare effects which ended up being a very dynamic way to create a sense of lighting and texture on more subdued screens, without adding pointless graphics that made no sense.
