Critique

Comments From Kyle

My critique for the first iteration of the prototype I presented was very positive and I was happy with it over all. I was glad of the feedback that I was given and I thought it was very helpful.

The first comment was that my text was too small. As soon as my work was put on the board my eyes went straight to that also. It was a great lesson that you should view your work on different scales and devices other than your own to assess it through various thresholds.

Kyle also expressed his preference of one button style over the other. I feel that perhaps having one button style will allow for easier navigation as users will be able to find it easier and understand it’s purpose, reducing cognitive load throughout their navigation of the prototype.

There was also a compositional element that needed changed due to it’s repetitiveness, that being the take off screens. Kyle suggested bringing the image out over the whole screen to increase it’s immersion and emphasise the spectacle of the image.

Applying Critique Suggestions

The first thing I did was increase my text size from 16px to 19px. Instantly this felt more comfortable to read. While this does throw the type-scale slightly, I still think it looks okay compared to headings. These things are rather a guide than law so I don’t mind going against it slightly. If I was to adjust the type-scale to proportionally enlarge headings also, it would be far too large.

I then changed any container buttons to the arrow icon buttons. Like I said above, this will increase consistency across the design which is definitely important for usability purposes.
