I found this module very enjoyable. I felt as though I approached many aspects of it with an open mind in order to develop my skills. An example of this was the illustrated interface project. I had a knot in my stomach when we were introduced to the project as creating illustrations was something I artfully avoided throughout first term. However, I decided to throw myself into it with this project, making illustrations the main feature of my interface. In the end, I enjoyed this project the most as I was really pleased with what I had created and in all honesty didn’t think I had it in me. Coming from a fine art background, I always felt that creating vectorised illustrations felt very jarring to how I used to create images. However, these skills from my past experience only informed me when it came to aspects such as composition of these illustrations or proportions. This project in particular sticks out to me as one that I had a great learning curve within and was very formative to my design skill set.

The dashboard project challenged me in a completely different way. The maths side of data visualisations was daunting in the beginning. I found myself second guessing myself a lot when it came to choosing appropriate graphs. However, I persevered and in the end I feel that my visualisations where the strength of my dash board. They all made sense and were comparative in many instances which I was happy about.

I also enjoyed the lecture content in this module, particularly in the illustrated interfaces half of the semester. I loved learning about all of the different illustrators and the way in which they create. I found it very motivational to overcome my fear of creating an illustration led interface which sounds ridiculous I am aware being on a design course, but it is something that I feel confident in now which is all that matters in the end.

I felt that I managed my time more effectively in this module and was very engaged throughout in comparison to last semester. My attendance was a big contributor to this. Over all, I feel like I have improved greatly as a designer over the course of this semester.
