We were asked to begin researching for this project in assigned groups. We had five members in our group so we needed to have a clear plan about the way in which we were going to research in order to avoid overlap and allow us to cover as much of a diverse content range as possible. I suggested that we each take a subheading each to research around.
I posed these 5 titles:
Everyone agreed that this was a good research approach so we decided to pick a title each and get to work. I picked the title of UX Health Applications.
To start my research I defined UX design in healthcare. User Experience (UX) design in healthcare is a critical aspect of medical technology development. It encompasses understanding the needs, values, abilities, and limitations of healthcare providers and patients, and integrating these into the design of healthcare technology. The goal of UX design in healthcare is to create products that are
This includes electronic health records, telemedicine platforms, wearable health devices, and other digital health tools. As healthcare becomes increasingly digital, the importance of UX design in creating user-friendly, efficient, and intuitive healthcare experiences cannot be overstated.
It also takes into account the challenges of the healthcare sector. These can include strict regulations, privacy concerns, and the critical need for accuracy and reliability. Good UX design can help healthcare professionals navigate these challenges by offering intuitive and efficient interfaces, reducing cognitive load, and minimising the potential for errors.
UX design in healthcare can also play an important role in patient autonomy. By creating easy-to-use interfaces and clear communication tools, patients can better understand their health conditions and treatment options, participate more actively in their care, and make more informed decisions about their health.
<aside> ⭐ REFLECTION: I had seen UX Design in healthcare often paired with the term ‘service design’ and I felt that it would be important to explore what service design is and how it is relevant in this context.
