It was definitely a surprise to me when we were confronted with creating your own brief. This is definitely a new approach and one I am quite excited about, especially for the self direction it will entail.
<aside> ⭐ REFLECTION: I feel as though my approach in this project needs to be very considered, with a great deal of attention payed to how long I spend on each step of the design process. It will be important to decide on a design model which is relevant to the UX research focus of this module.

The direction of this project isn’t completely self led however, as it has to deal with the health sector in some capacity. However, this is still very broad and there is a lot of work to be done to begin to decipher the direction in which this project will go. Casting the net wide in terms of my research will give me the best opportunity to find a problem that needs to be solved in this area.
Having a coherent and logical approach to a project through a design process will ensure that you are setting yourself up for success.
This is one that I have been familiar with for a length of time and what I’ve loosely based a lot of my processes in prior projects around. This was created by Design Council and they describe it as a ‘universally accepted depiction of the design process’.
It portrays the ebb and flow of focus between problem discovery and creating a solution as ‘divergence and convergence’. Within these directional visualisations, we discover, define, develop and deliver. The diagram below shows us the various components and activities involved in each of these subheadings.
<aside> ⭐ REFLECTION: I find this design process is very coherent and feels very natural to me. I like the emphasis it places on casting the net wide in your research, something that I both enjoy and also feel is extremely important in the landscape of creating UX solutions.

The sentiments of this design process can be detailed even further, such as in the diagram below. I like the circular diagram towards the left of the graphic showing that final convergence as something cyclical, which is highly representative of what the process becomes when you truly reiterate based on user testing.
