I went into Framer with a lot of optimism. While I loved learning HTML and CSS, I thought Framer seemed like a more intuitive tool that would make designing web content a lot easier. I was quickly proved wrong. Converting an actual design to Framer was straight forward enough. Using a Figma plug-in, we were able to copy and paste our designs into Framer. However, this was very temperamental and often required adjustments after pasting. This was easy though, as the interface reminded me of Figma so it felt familiar. However, it was when the website was published did issues arise. Things like to move about on Framer. It would be easily fixed if it was a recurring issue with the same components, but really each day a new component would go on the move.
While the sentiment of Code Free Web Design is a very smart and efficient one, Framer has a lot of issues. These issues lay in itβs reliability. While taking these shortcuts are easy at the time, it can create a whole realm of issue. In my opinion HTML and CSS is far more reliable for building websites that will stand the test of time.
In summary, I did not enjoy using code free platforms to create web content. However, it was useful in reinforcing to me the importance of HTML and CSS and having an understanding of it as a designer.
