This week took us up to the present day and we looked into the future of where interaction design will lead us. It is a really exciting time for the future of technology. I found it really interesting in the lecture that we discussed how it was an innovation to bring screens to technology, and now perhaps the focus will be to remove screens and have holograms or gesture based interfaces at the cutting edge. It will be very exciting to see what other features will be rolled out. One I’m not too pleased about is the metaverse. I think it’s weird that people want to create and exist within a new reality. It was also interesting to note the features that will stand the test of time such as typography, text hierarchy, colour and branding. In my opinion these features are the core of user experience and as long as technology and design exists these will be integral. I think it is easy to assume we’ve developed technology and user interfaces to such an extent, it begs the question why continue? But I feel like everyone has always said that before a new breakthrough which leads to mass innovation.
