Becoming the Interviewer

This week in class we were tasked with interviewing eachother for a UX job roll. Below is my interview feedback sheet and also the questions I asked the candidate I interviewed.

<aside> ⭐ REFLECTION: I found this to be a really interesting exercise and one that definitely got me in the headspace of being in an interview. It was also helpful to get an insight into the types of questions that they ask in interview so I can prepare these questions for my own interview. One question that stood out to me for example was the one about a client saying “they don’t like this design”. That’s a question I never would have thought would have came up in an interview so I will definitely need to go away and prepare my response for any of these questions incase they come up.

Further Research

I read this article on nailing your UX interview questions. I found what they said about interviewing the company while they interview you to be a very interesting point to raise. I definitely feel that it is an important objective to be happy with the company that you choose to take an offer with rather than just grasping at whoever will take you.

Upcoming Trends in UX Design

When this question was raised in the mock interviews, I felt that it was important to familiarise myself with some upcoming UX design trends.

  1. Voice User Interfaces (VUI): With the rise of voice assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant, designers are focusing on creating natural and seamless interactions through voice commands.
  2. Augmented Reality (AR): AR technology is becoming more accessible, and designers are exploring ways to integrate AR experiences into UX design. This trend creates opportunities for immersive and contextual user interactions.
  3. Minimalism and Simplification: The concept of minimalism continues to be popular in UX design. Designers are striving to declutter interfaces, simplify interactions, and focus on content to enhance user experiences.
  4. Dark Mode: Dark mode interfaces are gaining popularity due to their aesthetic appeal and potential energy-saving benefits. Designers are incorporating dark backgrounds with contrasting elements to provide a visually pleasing experience.
  5. Inclusive Design: UX designers are actively working towards creating more inclusive experiences for diverse user groups. This involves considering accessibility, diversity, and designing interfaces that cater to various abilities and needs.
